About Me!

Hi! I’m Areej, an instructional designer with a background in biomedical sciences and education. I create engaging, thoughtful learning experiences that bring together public health, education, and real-world impact. Born in Sudan and raised in Texas, I grew up as the eldest daughter in a family that values academics, creativity, faith, and community. Those roots continue to shape how I approach learning and design with care, curiosity, and purpose.

I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University. After graduation, I became a certified teacher and spent six years in the classroom designing instructional materials that supported student success. That experience helped me see the impact of learning design, and sparked my interest in creating training that’s clear, inclusive, and meaningful.

Now, I specialize in building eLearning that is simple, human-centered, and practical. In my professional work, I follow the principle of “design for behavior, not just understanding,” focusing on creating learning experiences that lead to real action and change. This approach guides me in designing scenario-based learning, applying adult learning theories, and making content more accessible for all learners.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my cats (Jukie & Jack). I’ve been blessed to travel to places like Mexico and Japan, and I always come back culturally enriched and rejuvenated. In my free time, I love journaling and crafting in my Hobonichi journal, making jewelry, and watching sci-fi, fantasy, or drama series. I’m always looking for ways to feed my mind, body, and soul, whether that’s researching random topics, working out, or diving deeper into my faith. One quote I carry with me is: “Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity.” It’s a reminder to stay open, keep learning, and lead with intention.
